Robert O. Beardsley

Mr. Beardsley is a trial attorney specializing in medical malpractice, professional liability, and municipal liability.

His practice is dedicated primarily to defending medical providers and hospitals in complex, high-stakes malpractice cases.  He also represents providers accused of unprofessional conduct before their respective state licensing boards including the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health, the Arizona Board of Psychologist Examiners, the Arizona Board of Nursing, the Arizona Naturopathic Physicians Medical Board, the Arizona Board of Osteopathic Examiners, and the Arizona Medical Board, among others.  Mr. Beardsley occasionally serves as a special prosecutor for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office in complex criminal prosecutions, as well as in the role of defense counsel for the County and its employees in cases involving allegations of Constitutional violations and municipal liability.

As a former prosecutor, Mr. Beardsley has completed over 35 trials to verdict, including two successful first-degree murder convictions and many complex and often high-profile felony cases involving child or intimate partner abuse and homicide.  He has significant experience developing and presenting complex medical testimony to lay jurors.  He has been a featured speaker to several multi-disciplinary panels on the topics of felony domestic violence, strangulation, witness recantation, and trial advocacy.

While in law school, Mr. Beardsley completed a judicial externship clerking for the Honorable Thomas D. Ferraro in the United States District Court and was awarded the Law College Association Scholarship for academic merit.
